Summer plans

official card to Russia
artwork by Minna L. Immonen

I have decided to stick on sending to repeated countries at Postcrossing.com all summer long. So far the majority of my cards are traveling to Russia, like this one that I wrote this morning. Have a safe trip!

Aion pitää koko kesän Postcrossing.comin "lähetä yhtäaikaisesti useita kortteja samaan maahan" -ruksin paikoillaan, ja tällä hetkellä valtaosa korteistani matkustaa Venäjälle. Sinne suuntaa tämäkin kortti, jonka rustasin tänä aamuna. Turvallista matkaa!

Sent official cards

Sending official Postcrossing-cards once a month seems to become a tradition... These are some of the cards I mailed out yesterday (and the first one to Finland was already registered this afternoon - that was fast!).

Virallisten Postcrossing-korttien lähettämisestä kerran kuussa näyttää tulevan jonkinlainen perinne... Tässä osa eilen matkaan laitetuista korteista. Suomeen matkanneet orvokit ehdittiinkin jo tänään rekisteröimään - nopeaa toimintaa!

My favorite Finnish Christmas cards for 2015

It's this time of the year again... Due to our moving and Japan trip, in the end I was quite late with my Christmas mail, but managed to send them out eventually. Here are some of my favorite Christmas cards for this year.

Did / will you send lot of Christmas mail?

Last cards to the world before moving out

The last official cards that I sent from our previous flat! When you're reading this, I'm already painting the new one - at least I do hope so!

Tässä viimeiset viralliset kortit, jotka laitoin matkaan edellisestä asunnostamme! Kun luette tätä, meikäläinen sutii jo maalia uuden kodin seiniin - tai ainakin todella toivon, että näin on!

Invasion of official postcards

I had not sent official cards for over a month, so last weekend I decided to draw some addresses. "Some" turned to 35... Well at least I had lots of fun writing and choosing the Right Cards!

En ollut lähettänyt virallisia kortteja yli kuukauteen, joten viime viikonloppuna päätin vähän ryhdistäytyä ja ottaa vaihteeksi muutaman osoitteen. "Muutama" oli lopulta 35 osoitetta... No, ainakin minulla oli hauskaa kirjoittaessani ja valitessani Oikeita Kortteja ihmisille!

Postcard artists: Minna L. Immonen

Minna L. Immonen (born in 1964 in Posio) is a Finnish artist who is known for her aquarelles that are used for various types of products: magnets, posters, dishes, napkins... and, most of all, postcards. Immonen has designed 10 stamps (Valentine's Day 2000; Christmas 2009 and Åland Christmas stamp) and several porcellain dishes for the Finnish company Arabia.

In some of her works you can spot the signature "Minna Immonen" without the letter "L.". Her maiden name is Immonen, and once she got married and became Minna Laukkanen, she didn't want to give up the name she had used for so long, so the just added the "L." to her name.

Minna L. Immonen (s. 1964 Posiolla) on suomalainen kuvataiteilija, joka on tunnettu akvarelleistaan. Hänen töitään on käytetty moniin eri tarkoituksiin: magneetteihin, julisteisiin, astioihin, servetteihin... ja tietysti postikortteihin. Immonen on suunnitellut yhteensä 10 postimerkkiä (ystävänpäivämerkit 2000; joulumerkit 2009 ja Ahvenanmaan joulumerkki) sekä kuvittanut useita keraamisia astioita Arabialle.

Immosen varhaisemmista töistä on mahdollista bongata signeerauksena "Minna Immonen" ilman L-kirjainta.

Sent Xmas cards

Hello there!

I haven't mailed out anything since last Monday, but I still have quite a pile of photos of the already sent things waiting to be published here... So let's start with some Christmas cards! Most of these are still on their way to the receiver, but I think we can keep the secret as I'm not publishing any names.

I must say that I was really satisfied with the wide range of Christmas cards we had this year; it was actually a bit difficult to choose "just" the prettiest!

Which would be your favorite? Did you send / will you send many Christmas cards this year?

Oh, and did you know, that we Finns are quite eager to send Christmas cards? Last year "we" sent 37 million of them... Quite a lot, when considering that the population of the country is just 5,4 million!
