Officials - off they go

The most of the official cards I sent a couple of weeks ago has reached its destination, so tomorrow morning more or less 20 cards will start their journey to other places and countries. This time most of these head to Europe.

Suurin osa pari viikkoa sitten lähettämistäni virallisista korteista on jo löytänyt uuteen kotiin, joten huomenaamulla noin 20 uutta korttia aloittaa matkansa kohti seuraavaa määränpäätä. Tällä kertaa valtaosa korttipinosta suuntaa Eurooppaan.

Bunch of cards heading to the world

On Sunday, I was a busy bee and wrote almost 50 cards... I guess that's what happens if you have a rainy, free day ahead and no letters to answer, haha. Here's a tiny selection of cards that started to travel on Monday:

Postcard artists: Martta Wendelin

Martta Wendelin (born in 1893 in Kymi; died in 1986 in Tuusula) was a Finnish illustrator who is best-known for her works published as magazine covers and postcards. During the 1930s-1960s she's said to have painted about 650 postcards and almost 30 Christmas stamps. She also illustrated some children's books.

The illustrations of Wendelin represent very traditional Finnish national themes, and almost all her works include nature and/or children. Her way to paint was quite distinctive, and the way she used colors is easy to recognize.

The best selection of Wendelin's cards that I know is available in a tiny model shop called Risteysasema in Tampere.

Paras tietämäni valikoima Wendelinin kortteja on myynnissä Tampereella Risteysasema-nimisessä liikkeessä.
